I took this picture of the SUNSET a few hours ago, and wanted to make up a list of why it was so amazing to live in CAPE TOWN. But I didn’t have the patience to make up the list, so went to google and typed in “top 10 reasons to live in cape town”.
First result on google was for “Top Ten Reasons to Live in Canada“, the second result was for “TOP 10 REASONS TO LIVE IN MANITOBA.“
And the 3rd result?
“10 Reasons Cape Town can **** Off” (this blog isn’t censored, so have slightly amended the result)
So look at my pic below, and see if you agree with Haai!
10 Reasons why Cape Town can **** Off! By Haai van der Skyf
This point by Haai caught my eye! Change “olympic games” for “World Cup Soccer” and….just maybe…..Haai has a point?
“Their roads are too damn narrow.
Ninety-five per cent of the roads in Cape Town are too narrow for two cars to pass each other.
How do you figure a town of four million can have a road system built to sustain a seaside village of sixteen-odd and then try to host the Olympic Games.
A case of the little boy whose eyes were bigger than his stomach, or what?
Maybe try host a traffic-jam-free December holiday and move on from there. Baby steps, guys. Baby steps.”
I’m sure if I look hard enough there are plenty Top 10 Lists of why Cape Town is the best city in South Africa if not the world!
It’s just a pity when you search “top 10 reasons to live in cape town” google doesn’t shine….(although honestly the rest of Haai’s satire is PRETTY funny!)

I’m quite happy for grumpy people to $*(^& off outta our gorgeous city - one less sourgrape to spoil the vintage (& one less car on the road to squeeze past LOL!!)

cape town is a jewel hidden to most of the world. World Cup will change the hidden part, but the jewel will live on.
Would love to learn more about the startup scene in Cape Town, I have a game changing startup and have long thought about moving to CPT.
