I’ve got about 10 posts that are in my mind ready to be written and I haven’t found the time or motivation to get them down on blog paper…
But I had to scream about the GENIUS of zuckenberg or whoever came up with the apps concept at facebook HQ.
It’s GENIUS!!
For those not already totally addicted to facebook, you won’t appreciate this - but 3rd parties can now add their apps into facebook.
So as an example, I enjoy twittering - and it gets updated in this blog (currently on the right hand side in the twitter box).
Now that the twitter app has been included in facebook, I have another option for twittering - in addition to the twitter page, Instant Messenger and from my phone (which i’m not mad about as it costs an international sms and doesn’t always seem to work), I can now twitter in facebook.
And facebook will now get even more of my time, as i won’t have to leave facebook to visit twitter to twitter or to see what others are twittering about - as it’s ALL in facebook!
Did I say GENIUS?
Imagine that for EVERY APPLICATION!!
The reason facebook can’t be copied easily on this (as I have already had phonecalls from people asking why they shouldn’t do a website like this themselves), is that facebook already have critical mass…
So it’s an additional sticky factor!
Lets say it one more time - GENIUS!!!!!
I’m still intrigued by the long term revenue model? Selling gift images, and a few banners!! With genius like this, I have a feeling the long term revenue model has been carefully thought out already.
Will the developers pay to add apps?
Will we facebook addicts start getting charged to use additional features on facebook?
Is it really about selling gift images, and banner advertising (and perhaps some sponsorship?)
I’m FASCINATED to see what Facebook have up their sleeve!!!
Update @ 5.39:
Just tried to twitter through facebook and got the following message…
But not moving my facebook loyalty yet!!
Errors while loading: http://twitter.com/facebook/
The URL http://twitter.com/facebook/ did not respond.
There are still a few kinks Facebook and the makers of Twitter are trying to iron out. We appreciate your patience as we try to fix these issues. Your problem has been logged - if it persists, please come back in a few days. Thanks!

Who needs a revenue model when you have the CIA backing you:

I’ve just watched it a couple of times. Wondering if those claims are ALL facts?

You know, I have spent hours and hours, actually, days and days, wait let’s be honest.. months and months on Facebook exploring the system from top to bottom, and I agree, it’s genius!
I have come across several glitches in the few months, but these things are petty, and are probably caused by the HUGE quantity of people using the site, I’m sure their servers are seriously taking strain
The concept, and logic behind the system is so straight forward, and to recreate it would require time, but not too much intelligence, as it’s all really based on simple concepts. Ok, I feel I need to tread carefully when saying that, because I don’t want what I say to come across incorrectly, hopefully my point is taken the right way.
Mr Z. was truly brilliant here, and he gets 2 happy thumbs up from me, or every aspect of his beautiful, near perfect, system!
Hope you are well Eric,
Chris
