I woke up to my radio telling me that global stock markets had tumbled overnight.
I’ve just spent a few minutes looking at all the South African websites and found NOTHING! Real time information in South Africa doesn’t exist yet. (I looked at IOL.co.za, Moneyweb and Mail & Guardian and none of them have an update - isn’t it time we had news websites other than feeds which had news updates 24×7?)
The international websites all have the information. The DOW is down 200 points, the Nikkei is also down heavily.
The South African Reserve Bank lifted the the interest rates by 50 base points yesterday to try stabilise the South African economy with indices such as inflation rising above the target range - after the Chinese Stock Market dip a few weeks back, and now the global market correction, I’m feeling the Global economy is just as shaky.
I’m pleased that I’ve finally learnt to follow my instinct and withdrew from the JSE a few days ago.
