Davos, TED, Anthony Robbins & Rafiq

The story behind why this video is a MUST WATCH…

About 2 years ago I was sitting having lunch with Alec Hogg from Moneyweb, and Alec mentioned a conference he had attended called Davos.

This year Alec attended Davos again, and wrote in depth about his experience.

Davos, Switzerland is the location for the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting which is where many of the worlds most influential, powerful and significant people come together to discuss the year ahead.

I enjoy every minute of the Internet conferences I attend - Search Engine Strategies, Ad Tech, Affiliate Summit & Webmasterworld Pubcon.

But I would trade all of them in to attend Davos - BUT it’s by invitation only.

Last month, A-List South African Blogger Rafiq “WebaddiCT” Phillips”, was invited to a conference called TED. Speaking to him a few weeks ago @ the Ernst & Young Toastmasters dinner, TED was added to my list of conferences I want to attend in the future - but once again it’s by invitation only, and the next conference in 2008 is ALREADY SOLD OUT.

Rafiq enthralled us with tales of Bono, one of the Google founders, and other AMAZING people he had met and seen at TED Global 2007 which took place from 4 to 7th this June in Arusha, Tanzania.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

Now a few days ago, I mentioned I had just started reading Anthony Robbins best selling book “Unlimited Power”. A quarter way in, I’m so impressed with Unlimited Power, that I spent some time this evening researching Anthony Robbins.

And after a short while, I found out that Anthony Robbins was a speaker at this years TED.

Tony recently was invited to speak at the prestigious Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) Conference, attended by the world’s most influential thinkers and leaders, including the founders of Google and former Vice President Al Gore. His 18-minute presentation was lauded as one of TED’s best ever.

I first watched the Anthony Robbins TED speech on a small window on Robbins home page, but after watching his incredible 22 minute presentation (the way he ends with a CLIFFHANGER at 18 minutes is GENIUS!), I did some more searching and found the Anthony Robbins page on the TED site, where not only can you watch him give his legendary speech on a larger screen, BUT you can download it into your iTunes.

So if you haven’t watched the Anthony Robbins video, do so now, and then spend the next few MONTHS reading the articles and watching the video presentations from the DAVOS & TED conferences this year.

And maybe, JUST MAYBE I’ll be seeing YOU at a future DAVOS or TED function.

[...] Eric recently emailed me a recommendation to read Anthony Robbins best selling book “Unlimited Power”. Of course being a workaholic, I haven’t actually had time to go get the book! I did however manage to download the Anthony Robbins video into iTunes. And it was absolutely brilliant. [...]
