Eric Edelstein has been involved in Internet Start-up’s for 10 Years, and founded incuBeta.com, Clicks2Customers.com, TrafficSynergy.com, Mobile-QandA.com and many other well known Internet companies. He also founded the eSquared clothing stores.

Eric spends large amounts of time testing out new Internet Marketing strategies and is passionate about Search Marketing, both SEO and Pay Per Click.

When not behind his laptop or Facebooking, Eric speaks @ Internet conferences, does corporate training on 2.0 and Internet Marketing strategy, and buys and sells Internet business’s on behalf of his own Venture Capital fund and a large number of private investors.

I always thought i’d be a trader or stockbroker. After majoring in Finance for my BComm in the mid 90’s, I did my RPE’s which were step 1 for trading (or so I was told at the time). Fast forward over working as a financial analyst for a few corporates (can’t believe I actually wore a suit and tie to work every day), and we raised capital for an Internet start-up in the UK in late 99.

Although that Internet start up did not succeed, the lessons I learned and the experience I gained, were the start of my passion for the Internet.

After sharpening my teeth in the Internet Gambling industry (where many of the South African entrepreneurs gained their Internet degrees), and getting my post grad in eCommerce, (but at the same time realising that the Internet was moving forward so rapidly that formal Internet education was no match for practical experience), I co-founded the incuBeta group of company’s, including clicks2customers.com which has subsequently become the largest Search Marketing company in Africa, and one of the top globally.

In 2005 I structured a buyout of Affiliate Network, TrafficSynergy.com from the incuBeta group, and TrafficSynergy has become a leading player in the affiliate network space, both in South Africa and internationally.

2006 was timeout from major Internet projects, and I spent the year working on a project for the Glendale charity (We raised a Million rand and raised the profile for the Glendale home for Mentally challenged people considerably). I also co-founded a number of retail shops called eSquared which offer unique fashion and cappachino’s (under one roof).

My work has taken me to the UK, United States, Europe and Asia.

My objective for 2007 and going forward is to assist new and early stage start-up’s to succeed. (primarily in Internet, Mobile and technology, but if the idea is good enough in another industry, i’ll be interested in discussing the idea). Succeeding means ensuring the funding is taken care of, that the strategy is sound, that the effectiveness of the marketing is maximised, and that the business achieves it’s objective.

I enjoy speaking at seminars and conferences , and love the interaction of these meet-up’s. (Contact me if you have a seminar or conference you’d like me to speak at)

Not every start-up is going to be the next Facebook or YouTube, but if you have an idea, i’d love to hear it, and see if we can set it alight…
